Social media try out, Google+
As social medias become more popular, many new social medias have emerged. 
Google+ one of a new social media that has a lot of potential. I’m starting to play around with Google+ this week and it is very nice with lots of function. Google+ is similar to a blog of many people who you can see all your friends posts. Other than that, You can also see the profile of your friends, add more friends, or even invite your friends to use Google+. You can access Google+ via Gmail so it is very easy to use. Most people check their email the same time they want to check their social medias so it goes well together. What I like most about Google+ is that if you are an android tablet user, you can use your google+ to it full potential.

Google is now become part of our life, we use Google to search, we use Gmail, Google map and more. My identity online could become much clearer as everything will be center around Google. Google+ also has a better way to group people you know the same way we do in real life. We can choose to interact with people more efficiently as your information will be share to only group of people you want. This will keep your professional life and your private life online completely separated.

Firstly, thank you for sharing your culinary skills. It makes sense for Google to expand it’s social media presence as it is the main search engine that’s available. Like any social media site, I think there will always be security issues. I’m not sure whether it will completely overtake facebook, but I guess only time will tell. MySpace is certainly now almost extinct.
Hello Areej, I don’t think people will completely abandon Facebook for Google+ either as they can use both if they like them both. Facebook has been there for a long time and has an insane amount of users. With a scary competitor like Google, Facebook will surely become better to compete with Google.

I really like the video! It’s great how you’ve linked the platform you use to connect to people to your online identity and the separation between a personal and professional online identity. I have to admit I haven’t reallycome to grips with the social side of google’s products even though I use googledocs and gmail. Thanks for the post, I’ll do some more exploring of google+ now.
Sometime I feel like Google own my life as I use lots of Google Apps. What I search is what I got from Google as well however, we cannot really escape from Google right now. Everything just come together nicely with just Google so Google+ is a nice addition and I hope you will enjoy it Amanda.

I’m a huge Gibli fan! This is my favourite although I really Ponyo too 🙂 I know I should really have a professional photo as my avatar but I’ve been reluctant to change, I’m very attached to Kikki.
I’m also a fan of Glibi! The one I like most is Chihiro Spirited Away. I’ve also watched most of them except the latest one Borrower Arrietty. Ponyo is nice but I don’t really get the story. I agree with you that we should have our photo as avatar but I really don’t have any good photo of me right now and the avatar I’m currently using could represent my feeling right now correctly>.<.
Awesome video. Thinking about it now, I too have started using a lot of Google services since in started using an android phone. Some might say that Google+ is still new and is not very active yet but what I really don’t like is the privacy function of Google+. Sometimes people who I don’t even know add me and since Google views everyone as a friend, the outcome is that you lose your privacy when compared to Facebook. Do you think people as more services are added into Google+ would people move away from Facebook.
You can’t befriended someone if you don’t click accept so Google+ won’t show them your data. I still don’t think people can leave Facebook that easily though, they have choices to use both anyway. It’s still nice to see new social medias that could be a good alternative to use for creating our own brands.

I definitely agree with the points that made about Google + within this article, especially the usage of Google services. Personally, I have already got my hands on both Facebook and Google +. I have to say that although they seem alike in term of the social networking services, but they’re completely different, not mentioning their interfaces. The classification of news-feed can be used an example to show their differences. Google+ provides an option for its users to select whether they want to receive news-feed from the public one or privately from specific groups of their own Google+ circles (e.g. colleagues, family’s members ). For Facebook, the users receive broad news-feed from all groups in one way on their news-feed menu, so it’s a bit difficult to them to read the update/news-feed from the specific person/group that they want unless the users access specifically on that person/group profile’s page.

Google is developping so many tools! You can use your gmail account in so many applications that your name can appear everywhere ! so good for branding. Just have to be careful to create a positive brand everywhere then 🙂

It’s nice to have your brand everywhere but I think you should focus on a few. We shouldn’t post anything that could hurt us on any social media. We could forgot about it and it’ll really come back and haunt us.

Compelling statements. I love shorter content blogs with engaging media. Very solid. I have just begun utilising google plus. I still need to gain familiarity with the interface, i find it a little stagnant and confusing to navigate and find users. Although its still in its early stages. Facebook has been updated several times over where as google + is in its early stages still. Looking forward to checking out your google+ account.

For now I use Google+ just to view data from my friends since I’ve got many friends that post often with interesting stuffs. I’ve very limited internet quota at home so I can only actively use internet when I’m at QUT. I’ve been doing most of my work at QUT too.

As an IPhone user, I think it’s safer (at the moment) to stick with Facebook as it’s integration with the IPhone is a lot higher than that of Google+ to an Android phone. I did try out Google+ on my IPhone once and deleted it after it was automatically uploading any pictures I took to my account. To me I see Facebook as more of a social and non-professional platform and Google+ as more for professional platform because it’s tied better into Google searches – I’d rather my Google+ come up if someone searched my name. Because I haven’t used it in quite a while, what features have you found that make it a better social platform than professional platform?

1 difference that could make Google+ a better social platform and professional platform is how Google+ defy friends and people you know the same way in real life. You can group friends at high school as high school friends and your colleagues as colleagues. However, you might have been really close with some of your colleagues and your high school friends so they can also be group as close friends. This will allow you to share your information better as you only want specific people to know about.

nice posts – easy to read!
To be honest, I’m not a huge Google fan, whether is Google Docs or Gmail… maybe that has something to do with the fact that a lot of my friends dont use it. Although it does seem like a very productive way to handle both social media and emails, I like having those two things separate – not having to read all my uni message with my friends messages. What do you think? Would you rather do them both at once?

Personally, I like to keep things in one place so that I take less time to view everything. You don’t have to use Google+ when you use your Gmail too if you want to only check your mail.

I’d love to move to Google+ if I can get my whole bunch of friends to join me. Feature-wise, I’d love to move but having upload so much content on Facebook already. It’s hard to just abandon the whole thing type of fallacy.
I think you can use both Facebook and Google+. It would be a shame to lose what you had previously.

I can’t lie I tried using Google Plus when it first came out but then I drifted away from it after awhile because not many friends were on it compared to Facebook. What’s so different about it when using it on a tablet device?
Hey! fantastic post my friend, I am really open to using google plus, it has a really nice aesthetic and some pretty funky features that allow it to integrate with many other google services. I’ve particularly had a great time using the ‘Hangout’ feature with friends but unfortunately, sometimes a social network is only as good as the amount of people using it. Many say it was too late for the service, but I personally think it could have been possible if it weren’t for the terrible name; much like google, skype, and facebook, I think for service to catch on in a big way it needs to have far fewer syllables. But that’s just me, what do you think?
